Upon walking inside though, I was blown away. The hotel facade is just a dim white with blue pops of color, so I expected the opera house interior to be more of the same. I have to admit that from the outside, I was not expecting much. I spoke with the woman working at the front desk, and since it was not busy, she was able to lock up and take us over to see the opera house (for a fee of $5 each). I didn’t have the opportunity to see any of the rooms as I was not staying there, but I heard it is a trendy spot due to price and how close it is to the park. The hotel is supposed to be haunted, and you can get that vibe just by walking down the massive, dimly lit hallway they have to the rooms. The hotel is pretty unique inside with a large fireplace, chairs in the lobby, and a gift shop in the back. The first thing I did was head into the hotel, which is a historic building in California. There is parking in the dirt outside of the hotel and the opera house. It is hard to miss as it is the only thing in the entire area, and it takes up a couple of blocks. Located on the eastern outskirts of the park, this hotel and fully functional opera house are a must-stop on any visit to the park from the east side. Death Valley National Park has a ton of amazing natural wonders in its vast expanse however, for man made attractions, it is hard to beat the crazy, fun Amargosa Opera House.
